Community & People Impact

Little Nest Rescue is more than an animal rescue. While our primary purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and care for animals in need, our work also creates meaningful opportunities for people within the local community.
Based on a working rescue farm, we are able to offer a supportive, practical and welcoming environment where people can learn, develop confidence, gain experience and contribute to something positive.

Supporting Learning & Development

We are proud to provide placement opportunities for people at different stages of education, training and personal development. These placements give individuals the chance to experience the day-to-day running of an animal rescue, develop practical skills and understand the responsibilities involved in animal care and welfare.
Our placement opportunities may include:

Animal Welfare Student Placements
We support students studying animal welfare, animal care, equine studies and related subjects. Placements can help students build practical experience, understand rescue environments and develop confidence working around a variety of animals.

Workplace Volunteer Days
We welcome organisations and businesses who want to support the community through workplace volunteering. These days can provide a meaningful team-building opportunity while directly helping with the care of animals and the maintenance of the rescue site.

SEN Work Experience
We aim to provide inclusive opportunities for both adults and children with special educational needs. Where appropriate, placements can support confidence, communication, routine, responsibility and practical life skills in a calm and supportive environment.

Duke of Edinburgh Placements
We offer opportunities for young people completing their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering section. This allows participants to contribute to animal welfare, develop responsibility and gain experience within a real community organisation.

School Work Experience

We support school work experience placements for students who are interested in animal care, rescue work, farming, welfare or charity-based roles. These placements can help young people explore future career paths and develop workplace skills.

A Safe & Supportive Environment
Little Nest Rescue is committed to providing a welcoming and respectful environment for everyone who attends the site. We understand that each person has different needs, abilities and goals, and we aim to make placements as positive and appropriate as possible.
All placements are considered individually to ensure they are suitable for both the person attending and the needs of the rescue.
Working With The Community
We are proud to work with schools, colleges, families, local organisations and businesses to create opportunities that benefit both people and animals.
Little Nest Rescue is also a member of Salford CVS, reflecting our commitment to working within the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.
